DSD Achievements During 2008
• One-week IT training imparted to 521 DTEs of 12 districts
of 1st phase during January-February 2008;
• 6-day training of 194 Lead Master Trainer for training of
District Master Trainers & Feeder Teachers on Early Childhood
Education;
• 6-day training of 1,686 District Master Trainers & 8,000
Feeder Teachers on Early Childhood Education at DTSCs/CTSCs
in 32 districts;
• 6-day specialized training of 35 Teacher Educators (Admin
& Finance) at DSD;
• 3-day workshop-I for 7 Resource Persons on “The New Examination
System” at DSD;
• 3-day workshop-I of 210 LTEs on “The New Examination System”
at DSD;
• 3-day workshop-II for 7 Resource Persons on “The New Examination
System” at DSD;
• 3-day workshop-II of 180 LTEs on “The New Examination System”
at DSD;
• 24-day training of 86 Master Trainers (MTs) from 10 districts
for training of Head Designates of PSTs at DSD;
• 3-day training of 110 Teacher Educators on Child Friendly
School during July, 2008;
• 6-day workshop of Research Network of 35 LTEs at DSD;
• 12-day training of 223 newly recruited DTEs on BFM-I in
12 districts of phase-I;
• 3-day training of 1455 DTEs on “The New Examination System”
in 13 selected districts;
• 3-day training of 59,855 PSTs on “The New Examination System”
in 13 selected districts;
• 12-day training of Head Designates of Primary Schools on
“School Improvement Plan” in 10 districts of phase-I in five
batches during August-December, 2008;
• Massive mobilization of resources from various donors including
World Bank, UNICEF, CIDA, GTZ and NCHD (all of these have
established their offices at DSD and work with us on a day
to day basis.

“School Improvement Plan” in 10 districts of phase-I in five
batches during August-December, 2008;
• 3-day training of 59,855 PSTs on “The New Examination System”
in 13 selected districts;
• 3-day training of 1455 DTEs on “The New Examination System”
in 13 selected districts;
• 12-day training of 223 newly recruited DTEs on BFM-I in
12 districts of phase-I;
• 6-day workshop of Research Network of 35 LTEs at DSD;
• 3-day training of 110 Teacher Educators on Child Friendly
School during July, 2008;
• 24-day training of 86 Master Trainers (MTs) from 10 districts
for training of Head Designates of PSTs at DSD;
• 3-day workshop-I & II of180 LTEs on “The New Examination
System” at DSD;

• 6-days training (28 credit hours) imparted to approximately
all 180,000 Primary School Teachers (PSTs) at 1989 Cluster
Training & Support Centres (CTSCs) established in 35 districts
of Punjab;
• Two-weeks training (72 credit hours) imparted to a total
of 3978 DTEs in 35 districts all over Punjab;
• 1167 DTEs placed at 702 CTSCs of 12 districts of phase I
and the process of mentoring of Primary School Teachers (PSTs)
initiated w.e.f. 01 April 2007;
• One-week IT training imparted to 720 DTEs of 12 districts
of 1st phase during December 2007; (the remaining 521 DTEs
from these districts were imparted similar training in January-February
2008);
• Four-weeks training (178 credit hours) imparted to 210 Lead
Teacher Educators through private service provider. (These
LTEs are regular Subject Specialists or Senior Subject Specialists.
A remuneration of Rs. 4000/- per week has been approved for
these LTEs which is paid to them when they impart training
in the field);
• 35 state-of-the-art District Training & Support Centres
(DTSCs) established in 35 districts (complete with necessary
equipment, support staff & 2 vehicles for each DTSC);
• Initiated and completed recruitment of Teacher Educators
(TEs) in BS-17 against 140 new posts at DTSCs (4 in each DTSC).
(These TEs, if recruited from the public sector, are paid
Rs. 6000 per month allowance in addition to their salary;
and, if recruited from the private sector, they are paid lump
sum Rs. 22,000 per month). A total of 116 TEs were recruited,
and imparted job-specific training for 3 weeks at DSD before
posting them at 35 DTSCs all over the Punjab;
• Library books worth Rs. 200,000/- per DTSC provided in all
the 35 districts;
• Purchased through DTSC heads equipment worth Rs. 7.0 million
(@ Rs. 200,000/DTSC) for 35 DTSCs and separately equipment
worth Rs. 93.4 million (@ Rs.133,000/ CTSC) for 702 CTSCs
of 12 districts of Ist phase;
• Self-instructional training manual (Basic Foundation Module)
developed and distributed to all primary school teachers (approximately
180,000) all over the Punjab;
• Massive mobilization of resources from various donors including
World Bank, UNICEF, CIDA, GTZ and NCHD (all of these have
established their offices at DSD and work with us on a day
to day basis.
