Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is being increasingly integrated in all sectors of economy. It is also an important trend in education, and its significance can not be denied in the area of teaching and learning. Alongside the government’s initiative of introducing computers at school level, DSD has started the process of integration of ICT into the teacher development programme structures, processes and governance procedures.

All our offices are web linked and every new entrant to the organization is made computer literate as a first priority. Every training session at DSD now includes a compulsory component of ICT skills. We have provided easy access to internet facility at DSD as well as our field formations, with all 35 DTSCs and all 1989 CTSCs linked with DSD via internet. We hope to move massive amount of data and information without undue wastage of human and material resources.

ICT is being increasingly used as a learning stimulus, because it enables learning through multiple intelligences. All our training at DSD or at field level, recognizes this fact and computer skills are included in all our training modules.Training seminars at DSD include use of multimedia. In the near future we intend to make ICTan integral component of our training modules. Intel Corporation & Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) are our regular partners in these endeavours.
