Restructured DSD: Paradigm Shifts in Teacher Development

 
 


Directorate of Staff Development (DSD) was de-linked from University of Education (UoE) in 2004 and restructured to become an apex organization for teacher professional development in Punjab. In 2006 it was granted administrative control of Provincial Institute of Teacher Education (PITE) and 33 Govt. College for Elementary Teachers (GCETs) thereby giving DSD the opportunity to integrate teacher development across the pre-service and in-service continuum.

The political commitment driving the Punjab Education Sector Reform Programme (PESRP) has facilitated DSD to evolve into its new role. Major paradigm shifts have been introduced in the restructured DSD:
