Posts of 210 Lead Teacher Educators (LTEs) created
1989 Cluster Training & Support Centers (CTSCs) established
in 35 districts of Punjab. 702 Cluster Training & Support
Centers (CTSCs) made operational in 12 districts. (average
45-60 clusters per district, cluster area comprising of
radius of 16 km)
4580 full time posts of District Teacher Educators (DTEs)
created for Cluster Training & Support Centers (CTSCs)
in 35 districts with an additional incentive of Rs. 4500/-
p m
140 Teacher Educators (TEs) posts created and recruited
in BS- 17 to be placed at DTSCs (4 in each district) with
Rs 6000 p.m. addl. allowance for public servants or Rs 22,000
per month for private sector appointees
Library books worth Rs. 200,000/- provided to DTSCs of
35 districts
b) Functionaloization of Support Network
LTEs training:
o 60 Lead Teacher Educators (LTEs) from 10 districts (6
per district) and 15 LTEs leftover in previous batches trained
by private service provider at DSD
DTEs training:
o Initial 2 weeks training of 2574 DTEs of 23 districts
at DTSCs by LTEs
o One week basic computer skills training of 1241 DTEs (12
districts)
PSTs training:
o 115, 019 Primary School Teachers (PSTs) in 35 districts
of Punjab trained
o Follow up support and mentoring process for PSTs in 12
districts already initiated w. e. f. October, 2007
TEs training:
o TEs trained by DSD faculty in two batches
Other support for PSTs:
o Early Childhood Education (ECE) - Pilot in 3284 feeder
schools by NCHD
o Teaching/learning English as Second Language through Radio
transmission – pilot testing in 585 schools of three districts
4. Self Instructional Material Development and Distribution
